The pandemic took from us many things, and gatherings and weddings were at the top of that list…but one thing it couldn’t take was the one thing we live our lives for…love. These uncharted waters forced the world to pivot and experience life in a whole new way. The human experience may have changed greatly, but with it came a resilience, a belief that we can conquer anything in the face of adversity.

Swoon’s very own, Maddy, planned herself the perfect wedding in May 2020 at a unique Reno landmark, The Old Post Office, located in Downtown Reno, Nevada. The Post Office no longer operates, but has instead been repurposed into retail shopping and a multi-use space. Its classic features and architecture remain perfectly preserved, with its incredible mid century design reimagined to fit the contemporary evolution of its city. It was the most magnificent place to say “I do”, but the world had other plans.

Though COVID took Maddy’s original plans, she and Peter celebrated anyway on their original date, with a small ceremony on the shores of Lake Tahoe, hosting only a close few in attendance. Maddy chose a simpler dress than her original gown, matched with the Penelope Bow by Untamed Petals, the most perfect socks, and cutest, most unique shoes (a Maddy signature), yellow rain boots. She and Peter promised each other forever, and even though the day looked a little different than they imagined, it was simply perfection.

Fast forward to one year later, and the world looks a little different. The pandemic is nowhere near over, but celebrations are alive and well. And so, Maddy’s original gown, Andromeda, a stunning high neck, long sleeve, soft a-line masterpiece by Vagabond Bridal, could make her debut in the very place she was meant to be seen, the Post Office…paired perfectly with her trademark classic shoes, a vintage earring and hairpins, and the Sadi veil.

And so, Maddy and Peter got to celebrate their love once again, exactly as it was intended.

These two have proven to us what many others have this past year, that we can do anything, that we can love endlessly, and even though things don’t quite go as planned, we can always celebrate each other. Cheers to our one of a kind, timeless classic of a Swoonie, Maddy!
